NCMA Loves Anime: Summer Wars (2009) and Mystery Event

Following the NCMA Loves Anime Bazaar, attendees are invited to a mystery event leading into a screening of Mamoru Hosoda’s Summer Wars.

Summer Wars is a 2009 animated action and sci-fi film about Kenji, a shy part-time moderator for OZ, a virtual reality system that underpins everyday life. When he is asked by popular classmate Natsuki to pose as her boyfriend during a family gathering, Kenji is suddenly pulled into a chaotic situation after a rogue AI hijacks his identity and triggers a crisis within OZ. As the virtual world spirals into collapse and real-world consequences emerge, Kenji must work alongside Natsuki’s extended family to restore order and prevent a larger catastrophe.
