About
This self-paced online course explores how visual art can be used to strengthen student literacy skills while supporting North Carolina Literacy Instruction Standards. Educators examine how literacy can be defined across disciplines and learn practical strategies for integrating art into reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension instruction.
Participants engage with works from the NCMA collection to develop lessons that build interpretive and expressive literacy skills, while also creating their own arts-integrated lesson plans. The course is designed for teachers of all subjects and provides opportunities for reflection, collaboration, and curriculum development, with a 20-hour certificate of participation available upon completion.
