About
Every first Wednesday of the month we meet at Five Points Center for Active Adults to read and discuss original poems, prose, and spoken word. This free event is open to adults 18+ through Raleigh Recs. While we encourage original work, you may bring authors you find interesting, even song lyrics have been read. There is no obligation to read, friends and listeners are welcome. This is a non-amplified open mic in a small room setting, just right for discussion and sharing.
We will begin with three poems or five minutes of prose or spoken word each. Expect comments from participates, discussion of the subject, etc., but no critiques of your writing. This is a mentoring and nurturing group. If we have time, we will make another round of reading, so be prepared with another piece. Pre-registration through Raleigh RecLink is helpful but not necessary. Either way be sure to stop at the reception desk when you arrive. Marking your attendance with the facility assures the continued use of this space for no charge. Sign-up to read and to socialize begins at 2:30 and we will start reading at 3 until 4:30.
Evening Open Mic is at Tap Yard in Raleigh on the third Wednesday of the month, 6:30 to 9pm
