Pantera

About

Pantera was formed in Arlington, Texas, in 1981. Initially founded by the Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell, along with bassist Rex Brown and several early lead vocalists, Pantera underwent a stylistic shift with the arrival of vocalist Phil Anselmo in 1987. This lineup released Pantera’s most successful albums, including Cowboys from Hell, Vulgar Display of Power, and Far Beyond Driven, with the latter reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Over their career, Pantera released nine studio albums and their aggressive style of groove metal has been a significant influence in the genre.
