Mike Dillon & Punkadelick are an idiosyncratic trio, as dynamic, heady, and unpredictable as any act on the scene. The vision of bandleader Mike Dillon (Ricki Lee Jones, Ani DiFranco, Les Claypool, Garage a Trois, Critters Buggin’) on vibraphone, marimba, Prophet 6, congas, and bongos, the group enlists the tremendous talents of two prodigal co-conspirators: the brilliant Brian Haas (Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, NOLAtet) on Fender Rhodes, piano, bass Moog and melodica, and all-world beat-keeper Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power, Maceo Parker, Dumpstaphunk, Beyonce) on drums, cymbals and vocals. A sum greater than the prolific parts, Punkadelick embodies the unification and experimentation of six hands and six feet, sensational storytelling and sensory overload through soundscapes that resemble an ensemble three times their size.
