About

Ramona and the Holy Smokes are a Central Virginia band with South Texas roots, bringing a fresh take to classic honky tonk. Led by Mexican-American singer-songwriter Ramona Martinez—named by Wide Open Country as one of the “15 Latino Artists Shaping Country Music”—the group blends traditional country with Mexican influences in a style they call “Mexi-tonk.” Their debut LP, recorded at Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, channels themes of heartache, struggle, and resilience through lush ballads, driving two-steps, and defiant breakup anthems.

Formed in 2022, the band—Kyle Kilduff (guitar), Brooks Hefner (pedal steel), Jay Ouypron (bass), and Porter Bralley(drums)—has quickly risen through regional Americana circuits, performing at festivals like Red Wing Roots, Rooster Walk, and Bristol Rhythm & Roots, and opening for artists such as Margo Cilker, Joshua Hedley, and Donna the Buffalo.

From the cheeky “Gonna Be Mine” to the bilingual “Esta Herida” and the empowering “Goodbye & Good Riddance,” the album showcases Ramona’s sharp wit, emotional depth, and fearless songwriting. Rooted in the golden era of country but unafraid to cross borders, Ramona and the Holy Smokes deliver music that’s honest, timeless, and deeply human.
