Herons is pleased to host “Rooted in the South,” on Wed., Dec. 5 to benefit the Southern Foodways Alliance. Two-time James Beard Award Semifinalist Chef Steven Greene and Pastry Chef Jonathan Fisher will highlight the winter produce from One Oak Farm with this creative 5 course dinner. 50 percent of the evenings proceeds will be donated to the SFA, which documents, studies and explores the diverse food cultures of the changing American South.
Based at the University of Mississippi’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture, the SFA collects oral histories, produces films and podcasts, publishes great writing, sponsors scholarship, mentors students and stages events that serve as progressive and inclusive catalysts for the greater South.
Tickets are $150 plus tax and gratuity, with optional wine pairings available for an additional cost, and can be purchased at 919.447.4050. A welcome reception will be held in the Art Gallery at 6:30pm followed by dinner beginning at 7pm in Herons.
