Santa's Reindeer Roundup Express

Ride the Rails with Santa Claus at New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR), the Triangle's Train, the first two weekends in December!

The all-volunteer railroad is continuing its holiday tradition of Santa Claus and train rides with its Santa's Reindeer Roundup Express on December 7, 8, 14 & 15. Trains will depart at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. during each ride day.

The trains and rail yard will be festively decorated and holiday scenes will be set up along the tracks. Frosty the Snowman will greet guests in the rail yard, while Santa Claus and his elf are on board to pose for photos and visit with each child during the hour-long ride.

Additionally, passengers can search for Santa's nine missing reindeer (including Rudolph), along the train tracks during their ride and in the rail yard.

Santa's Reindeer Roundup Express is the only place in the Triangle where visitors can visit with Santa during a real train ride. Tickets cost $13 for adults, $12 for seniors (ages 60+), $11 for children (ages 2-12) and children under two years old are free when sitting in the lap of an adult ticketholder.

Visitors will ride in open-air passenger cars and are encouraged to dress for the weather. Trains will operate in the snow, sleet or rain, so plan accordingly.

Tickets are available for purchase now at More details will be announced as the event gets closer.
