The Wendell Appearance Commissioner invites you to the third annual Spring Into the Art Walk – a day long gala of visual, fine and performing arts!
The third annual Spring Into the Arts Walk will feature several local artists in an open air art competition throughout downtown. Artists will set up in Wendell’s historic downtown district and beyond. Visitors are invited to watch the artists create a masterpiece highlighting Downtown Wendell beginning at 9am and ending at 4pm.
Visit the J Ashley Wall Square [Third and Cypress Streets] for a picnic in the park while enjoying the acoustic harmonies of a bluegrass performance by The Garrett Newton Band from noon-1:30pm.
Everyone is encouraged to visit with the artists as they bring their creations to life. A map showing the artist's locations will be available soon.
Additional events happening in Wendell during the third annual Spring Into the Arts Walk include:
• Arts & crafts vendors on Campen Street hosted by the Wendell Chamber of Commerce (9am-2pm)
• Classic Car Show at Universal Chevrolet, 114 North Main Street (9am-3pm)
• Scrap Exchange Kid’s Event at the Wendell Woman’s Club Lot, 10 S Cypress Street (10am-1pm)
• There will also be a Kids’ Art Walk Event featuring art from the local elementary school children. All proceeds from the “Penny War” judging will be returned to the participating elementary school art classes. The location is to be announced. (10am-2pm)
Spring Into the Arts Walk wraps up with an Artist Reception and Silent Auction at Wine and Beer 101 on Friday, May 18th from 6:30-8pm to meet the artists and view their creations as well as bid on the art. All proceeds benefit the Wendell Appearance Commission for public art and beautification projects.
