About

Recorded in a crumbling, mildew-filled Atlanta house plagued by flooding, faulty wiring, and constant tension, Sword II’s forthcoming album Electric Hour is their most ambitious, accessible, and emotionally charged work to date. Self-recorded over 14 months, the record channels paranoia, love, resistance, and survival amid real-life pressures including police surveillance tied to the Stop Cop City movement, housing instability, and creative precarity. Drawing from a wide range of influences—spanning punk, pop, theater, psych, and noise—the trio crafted a raw yet inviting sound built on strong vocals, acoustic textures, and collective songwriting rather than studio gloss. Despite exploring heavy themes like surveillance, exploitation, queer desire, and betrayal, Electric Hour remains catchy, theatrical, and deeply human, reflecting the band’s lived experience as DIY artists who find joy, power, and solidarity through collaboration. Rooted in Atlanta’s underground but reaching for something larger, the album frames creativity as urgency: one hour, one life, one chance to make meaning and fight back.
