The People’s Collection: Borom Sarret and Black Girl

About

A wagoner goes to Dakar to make a living but continues to live in poverty, as most of his passengers cannot afford to pay him.

Following the short film Borom Sarret, join us for a screening of Black Girl. A young Senegalese woman moves to France to work for a wealthy white couple and finds that life in their small apartment becomes a figurative and literal prison. Stay after the screenings for a talk about the films and the African art collection by Tashae Smith, assistant curator of African art.
