Staged reading of The Thursday Night Bridge Circle. The Thursday Night Bridge Circle is a dramedy celebrating of the empowerment of women and revealing how they are the change makers in society. It is August 1970, and the Thursday Night Bridge Circle is meeting at the home of Mary Louise Kennedy in La Grange, NC - population 5,000. Three generations of women have gathered for cards, refreshments, and conversation. They are friends, mothers, and daughters. The group has years of stories and opinions, but this Thursday night has some interesting new twists. First, there is a new player, and she is new to Southern life and her questions and observations stir new conversations. It is also two weeks into the start of a new school year and desegregation has come to La Grange public schools and the ladies have different ideas about the new situation. The black housekeeper, Margaret, has been an important part in all their lives and raised their children and for years she has been a largely, silent witness to all these conversations but all that may be about to change.
