The Tortued Genius of Edgar Allan Poe: A Talk by Elliot Engel


Elliot Engel will speak on The Tortured Genius of Edgar Allen Poe. Tickets will be available by phone and will be held at will call. Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled; doors will open at 6:30 pm.
Dr. Elliot Engel will examine the bizarre and turbulent life of Poe to uncover the roots of his unique genius. Using anecdotes, analysis and large doses of humor, Professor Engel will bring to life this most remarkable of American authors who still captures the imagination of every middle and high school student who studies him.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Elliot Engel now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he has taught at the University of North Carolina, North Carolina State University and Duke University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at UCLA. While at UCLA he won that university’s Outstanding Teacher Award.
