SAGE Raleigh, LGBT Center of Raleigh and Resources for Seniors are the proud founding sponsors of North Carolina’s first Triangle Expo for LGBTQ Aging Adults being held during LGBT Pride Month on June 23, 2018. The main purpose of the Expo is to bring together providers of vital resources and consumers who are 50 and older. It will highlight and feature agencies, organizations, and businesses in the Triangle area that are welcoming, respectful, and willing to reach out to LGBTQ aging adults. While the impetus for creating this event is to especially reach out to the LGBTQ senior community, the information on services and resources is appropriate to the entire senior community as well as caregivers who work with seniors, and therefore this event is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
This Expo will include non-profit service agencies that are aware of the special needs of senior populations and are prepared to handle them. It will connect LGBTQ-affirming health care professionals, housing providers, businesses, and many others with LGBTQ people throughout the Triangle. The intention is to inform senior community members of agencies and organizations that are welcoming to a population that has sometimes felt marginalized and not always welcomed as they navigate the services spectrum. Other for-profit service providers and businesses that are seeking exposure to the LGBTQ senior community will be included based on availability of space.
Step forward and support the Triangle Expo for LGBTQ Aging Adults by being a contributor, supporter, sponsor, participating agency, exhibitor, guest speaker, volunteer, or by just attending this worthwhile event.
