About
One of the great privileges of NC is its depth of cultural inspirations…
In collaboration with Sophie’s Grill and Bar:
Join us at Sophie’s for a special Women’s History Month wine class, where history, culture, and cuisine come together for an unforgettable evening. This exclusive event will highlight the rich culinary and winemaking traditions of Georgia, while also exploring the deep cultural connections between Georgia and Bulgaria—two nations with storied pasts and vibrant flavors.
Guided by Sophie’s owner, Desy, you’ll enjoy a four-course pairing experience, featuring:
- Two Georgian white wines & two Georgian red wines
- Shopska Salad – a refreshing Bulgarian classic
- Czech Roll – a delicious, savory pastry
- Cabbage Rolls – a comforting and traditional dish
- Crème Caramel – a decadent dessert to end the night
Throughout the evening, Desy will share her Bulgarian roots, weaving together stories of connection and the shared legacy of Bulgarian and Georgian history. This unique event offers a chance to raise a glass to tradition, culture, and the ties that bring us together.
About the owner of Sophie’s Grill and Bar:
Sophie’s Grill and Bar is a family endeavor helmed by first-generation immigrants to America. Owner and Chef Desislava, or “Desy,” hails from Bulgaria and opened her restaurant as a way to share the love and hospitality of her grandmother’s cooking. Her staff is comprised of Chef Cristina from Romania, Sommelier Dalibor from Serbia, and Pastry Chef Neli, also from Bulgaria.
