About

Modern machinery has made the art and skill of woodworking much more accessible to the average person. The main focus of this class will be instructing students in how to safely use all of the major milling equipment in the woodshop.

These include the following:  Miter Saw, Jointer, Planer, Table Saw(Ripping and Crosscut), Router Table and Band Saw.

As we progress through the tools each student will take their sample piece of wood through the process of making it S4S (Surfaced on 4 Sides, or "making it square"), and then make some decorative cuts to it as well. We will discuss best practices for safety while using each tool and how to get the best results for your projects going forward.

This class is the first step in laying the groundwork for each student to progress their skills and delve further into the world of woodworking.
