In the 1940s, E. E. "Jack" Carter began renting spaces in the Carter Building to a variety of artists that ranged from wood workers to visual artists to rock 'n' roll bands. Today the Carter Building is a thriving community of more than 80 artists. Select studios are open Thursday through Saturday from 11am-3pm and all are open for the First Friday Artwalk.
