The Philharmonic Association fosters the love of great music in young musicians through ensemble training in full symphony orchestras, string orchestras and jazz groups that include opportunities to study with professional musicians.
Hugh Partridge, former Principal Violist of the North Carolina Symphony, has served as Artistic Director since the organization's founding in 1988. The Philharmonic Association was honored to be awarded the Raleigh Medal of Arts in 2012.
Each concert season includes performances from symphonic, string and jazz ensembles with occasional events featuring chamber ensembles. Symphonic ensembles include the Triangle Youth Philharmonic, Triangle Youth Symphony and Triangle Youth Orchestra. String ensembles include the Triangle Youth String Orchestra and Triangle Youth String Sinfonia. The jazz ensembles include the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra and Triangle Youth Jazz Band.
