Welcoming spring with a tour of the J.C. Raulston Arboretum is a delightful introduction to one of the capital city's crown jewels, North Carolina State University. From its website one learns the following: “The J.C. Raulston Arboretum is a nationally acclaimed garden with one of the largest and most diverse collections of landscape plants adapted for landscape use in the Southeast. Plants especially adapted to Piedmont N.C. conditions are collected and evaluated in an effort to find superior plants for use in southern landscapes. The mission of the J.C. Raulston Arboretum is to introduce, display and promote plants that diversify the American landscape, thereby benefiting our communities economically, environmentally and aesthetically, as well as provide educational experiences to the general public, students of all ages and the green industry.” Step Into the Garden will explore these beautiful 10.5 contiguous acres that are a living laboratory for students and faculty in the Department of Horticultural Science. The tour lasts four hours, from 9am-1pm. Tours must be booked at least 30 days in advance. Minimum 10 people per group.
