Men's College Cup Officially Sold Out

INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee, North Carolina State University, the Town of Cary and the Capital Area Soccer League have announced that the 2009 NCAA Men's College Cup is officially sold out.

Cary, North Carolina, is one of the six selected cities to serve as an inaugural member in the new "NCAA Championship City" pilot program. The Championship City pilot program features multiple host opportunities of NCAA Divisions I, II and III Men's and Women's championships through 2012. The centerpiece of the Championship City pilot program is a long-term agreement between the NCAA and each host city to bring a wide array of championships and ancillary events to the six geographical areas over the course of several years. The 2009 NCAA Men's College Cup will take place in Cary for the third time in five years at WakeMed Soccer Park.

"NC State, the Town of Cary and Capital Area Soccer League are all extremely excited about hosting a seventh consecutive sold-out College Cup," said Chris Alston, assistant athletics director for marketing/promotions and Web operations at NC State. "We are looking forward to another great event for our community and the participating student-athletes."

"We are very pleased that we'll have a capacity crowd at WakeMed Soccer Park in just a few weeks," said John Diffley, chair of the Division I Men's Soccer Committee and senior associate athletics director of administration at St. John's University in New York. "Our hosts have done a tremendous job in promoting the event and we are appreciative of their efforts. It will be great for our student-athletes and coaches to play in such an exciting atmosphere."
