A Foodie Halloween

Drinking a craft North Carolina beer with vampire teeth? Count me in! This Halloween weekend is bound to be filled with scary costumes and local brews. October is one of my favorite months because many of the Raleigh area breweries release their most anticipated seasonal beers. The weather is starting to get cooler, which means the beer is starting to get darker and richer. Let's just say, I couldn't be more excited!
Just in time for Halloween at the brewery, Lonerider will be presenting their latest craft beer. Come out to Lonerider's limited release dock party on October 27 from 12-7pm. Pistols at Dawn is Lonerider's stout brewed with roasted malts, oats and lactose. This rich, dark beer is also made with locally produced products, Videri Dominican Cocoa Nibs from Raleigh and City Lights coffee from Joe Van Gogh in Durham.
Rebus Works is hosting Pop A Top, a food truck rodeo with live music to kick off Aviator Brewing Company's new canned beers. Aviator Brewing Company recently released three of their craft beers in cans, Hotrod Red, Devil's Tramping Ground Tripel and Hogwild IPA. Food trucks include Only Burger, Bulkogi, Sarge's Chef on Wheels and La Farm Bakery, gladly dishing out food to go along with your beer. The event will be held on October 27, 12-4pm and the proceeds will benefit the Saturday Market, which is Raleigh's weekly, local food and craft market.
The Raleigh area is home to many breweries and I encourage you to visit them all. Not only are the Greater Raleigh breweries being innovative and creating new craft beers, they are supporting the community by hosting family-friendly events. I hope everyone has a safe Halloween filled with North Carolina beers, zombie costumes and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup pumpkins.
