Some of the most dynamic businesses, restaurants, bars and hotels in downtown Raleigh can be found on its main road: Fayetteville Street. A district all on its own, Fayetteville Street is packed full of both skyscrapers and historic buildings and is bustling both day and night.
Stretching from the North Carolina State Capitol to the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, this district is home to a wonderful mix of business and pleasure. When in town, make your stay at the Raleigh Marriott City Center or the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel for a great central location in the district. Dine on fresh sushi from Sono, alligator bites at The Big Easy or delicious Tuscan cuisine at Posta Tuscan Grille. Or, there’s dozens more options to consider.
Once you’re full, head over to a performance at the Progress Energy Center, whether it be an opera, ballet, symphony or play. Next, you can have a cocktail or a local beer at Isaac Hunter’s Oak City Tavern or The Oxford or nearly a dozen other nightspots. Your hotel will be near at the end of the night, but if you don’t feel like walking then just hop in the back of one of the many Raleigh Rickshaws that will be roaming the streets.
The Fayetteville Street district is always alive with festivals, events and fun, truly making it the heart of downtown Raleigh.
