Making a day trip to downtown Raleigh in the near future? Worried about not finding a spot on the street and having to park in a crowded deck? Have no fear! With the addition of 173 meters to the downtown area, you’ll be sure to find a spot in no time.

The days of circling around downtown have come and gone. The Raleigh City Council has approved a new parking-meter system in the downtown region to increase the parking turnover rate and regulate parking. The plan began January 25th and is anticipated to be in full force by March… right on time for all of downtown Raleigh’s spring events!

Expect everywhere from Hillsborough St. to Glenwood Ave. to be donned with these helpful devices—helpful because change is not required. The meters require payment from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but you can conveniently pay with your debit or credit card if you don’t happen to have any cash. This is especially handy for families visiting The Marbles Museum or seeing an IMAX movie. Searching for a parking space while dealing with kids is never a fun task, but now you can conveniently pay a meter and stick to your schedule!

Make your next trip to Raleigh more enjoyable and stress-free. Park, pay, and be on your way!
