Don’t reserve only one day this month to commemorate one of America’s greatest heroes. Join Cary and Raleigh in their week-long Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dreamfest Celebration!
The MLK Task Force and the Town of Cary have put together some amazing events for you to enjoy. Saturday, January 16th, for example, there will be a special Dream of Art Reception in honor of MLK at the Page-Walker History Center in Cary. Come enjoy food, music, art and the artist Bruce Roberts himself as he reviews his famous exhibition, Dream of Art. This event will also serve as a community expo so expect to mingle with some of the brightest minds in the area as you celebrate the life of MLK!
There will also be a special tribute to Dr. King’s immense effect on the spiritual community. The Herbert C. Young Community Center Dream in Cary will host the Unity Ecumenical Observance on Sunday, January 18th at 6pm. All faiths and beliefs are welcome so spread the word to your friends and join numerous secular and religious leaders in their remembrance of MLK.
If these two events don’t fit your schedule, take a day off and head to Downtown Raleigh on Monday, January 18th and participate in the Dream of Democracy Unity March /Rally. Unite with others as they march to commemorate a legend and to keep his cause alive. The march begins at 11 a.m. at the State Capital Building so bring your spirit and comfortable walking shoes!
Don’t let your busy schedule keep you from celebrating the life of MLK. Raleigh and Cary have made sure to provide everyone with plenty of opportunities so all that’s left for you to do is to pick one or more! Happy MLK Day!
