Enjoy a Good, Old-Fashioned Pig Pickin'

This spring, the Downtown Raleigh Farmers Market will be celebrating its grand opening with a good, old-fashioned pig pickin’, and you’re invited!
Whether you’re a BBQ enthusiast or a first-time sampler, you’ll be sure to enjoy this all day event. The market opens at 10 a.m., but the fun won’t officially begin until Mayor Meeker himself rings the market’s opening bell. After that you’re free to wander to whatever section of the market interests you most, but don’t be surprised if your senses lead you directly to the pig pickin’!
Be prepared to really give your taste buds an experience as you sample some of the most savory, finger-lickin’-good BBQ you can imagine! The BBQ, prepared by Raleigh’s own celebrated pitmaster, Chef Ed Mitchell, not only will bewitch your taste buds but will change your attitude about BBQ in general. You’ll become a fan for life! There will also be an opportunity to learn how to replicate this amazing food as Chef Mitchell will share his BBQ secrets in a demonstration. He’ll have you ready for the cookout season in no time!
So come join the folks downtown at the City Plaza on April 28th for a fun-filled day of BBQ, bluegrass, and tons of southern hospitality. Everyone needs a little piece of southern heaven sometimes, and the Downtown Raleigh Farmers Market is here to provide it!
