There are so many wonderfully spooky events in Greater Raleigh during October, but Halloween weekend is by far the most jam-packed weekend of the month. If you’re seeking thrills and chills, or maybe just some candy, Greater Raleigh has something fun for you.

The slightly spooky yet still family-friendly event of the weekend is the Halloween Express train ride at New Hope Valley Railway. For $9, you can enjoy a scenic nine-mile train ride on Oct. 29th and spot the eerie monsters that will be lurking along the rails.

What happens when a theatre collides with a haunted house? See for yourself when the Raleigh Ensemble Players present Struwwelpeter: A Haunting on Oct. 29th and 30th. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students.

Put your senses in a spooktacular overdrive at the Contemporary Art Museum’s Fright Night Halloween bash. You’ll be surrounded by modern art while you dance it out to a DJ, compete in a costume contest, and load up on great food and drinks. Tickets are $15.

If you’re looking for a “grown up” Halloween event, check out Halloween Weekend at Chatham Hill Winery. During this weekend the winery will be sampling the spooky and festive, Fire Tongue Bowl made with Sweet Carolina Blackberry wine. A special trio package is available this weekend only for $52.
