Looking for something fun and exciting to do with the kids this summer? Then why not make a visit to the Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh! As one of the most innovative and hands-on learning museums in the Triangle, this museum has multiple galleries and exhibits that are an absolute blast.
If your young one enjoys art, then there’s a newly opened Art Loft exhibit where children can get their creative juices flowing through painting, drawing and sculpting. Other exhibits include Splash, where children can explore the wonderful world of water; Around Town, which is a kid-sized version of the otherwise more grown-up world; and IdeaWorks where there are plenty of materials to design and build whatever their hearts desire!
To top it all off, the museum is also home to North Carolina’s only 3D-capable IMAX screen. The theatre selects educational IMAX documentaries that match elementary and middle school curricula. It also offers some giant film features that attract children and adults alike, such as Transformers and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The experience of viewing films on this screen is definitely different from your standard theater and exhilarating for everyone!
After a day of fun and play, your explorers will probably need an energy boost. Not to worry, the museum offers concessions and Starbucks at The Corner Store as well as sandwiches, soups and salads at Roly Poly. No one leaves hungry after a day at Marbles!
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday for general admission to the public as well as field trips and large groups. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for group discount rates. If you have a Food Lion MVP card, then every Wednesday you can receive $1 off admission for up to four people. This is one of many engaging and fun places to explore with your children and friends and definitely worth a trip to Raleigh!
