If you’re looking to experience the wonderful historical and educational scene of Greater Raleigh with the kids, then you’re in luck! There are plenty of museums in the area that are especially fun for your young ones, with interactive displays, hands-on activities and exhibits that will have them intrigued and engaged.
A museum designed specifically for your kids, Marbles Kids Museum is unlike any other in the area. Marbles delivers purposeful play in a big way, by offering dozens of interactive exhibits, daily educational programs and an overall extraordinary adventure. Once the kids have learned and played at Marbles, take them to the next-door IMAX theatre for the current larger-than-life documentary or grand-scale Hollywood film.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is the Southeast’s largest natural history museum that offers four floors of awesome exhibits, including the world’s most complete Acrocanthosaurus dinosaur. Let your kids enjoy the hummingbirds and butterflies in the Living Conservatory or check out the different types of live amphibians nearby. Best of all, admission is free!
A field trip favorite for years, the North Carolina Museum of History highlights the state’s military history, decorative arts, sports heroes and much more through interesting exhibits and special programs. Take a look at the calendar to see when the next craft demonstration, music concert or family event will be and plan your trip accordingly.
While we’re sure your kids will find something to enjoy in all of Greater Raleigh’s museums, these select venues in downtown Raleigh will really have them saying, “Wow!” For a comprehensive list of all the great museums in the area, visit this site.
