Each month, the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts is home to a dazzling array of performances that range from Broadway musicals to celebrity comedy tours. This month is no exception, with a schedule that seems to have a little something for everyone.
If you act fast, you’ll be able to catch the famed comedian Chris Tucker live on July 16th, as he triumphantly returns to the stage after a brief hiatus. The following day, the Carolina Music Awards will host its 4th annual event, with a specific focus on artists of most genres from the Carolinas.
The world premiere of A Field of Glory, an original play set against the backdrop of war, will be on July 20th – 31st. This is a charming and beautiful play about a mother and son in the Old South. Of course, we can’t forget about Hairspray, the Broadway musical, which will be playing July 22nd – 31st. Wrap up the month with a lovely performance by the students of the Ruth S. Shur Carolina Ballet Summer Intensive program.
