Michael Strickland of Stained Glass Associates is the artisan who created our replica window. He worked with us over several months to carefully match the dimensions and scale of the original, and then brought us samples to consider colors. We’ll share more about those color choices soon.

The signature piece of our lighting plan has now been installed and she is a beauty. Traditionally, newel posts like this one at the base of the main staircase would have had a sculpted light fixture to welcome guests.

We were not able to locate any photos of the original, but we chose this replica of an antique originally created by Mitchell-Vance for their 1876 catalog.

Our Victorian Diana reproduction is made of brass-bronze and weighs more than 100 pounds.

There weren’t any light fixtures left in the house when we started - just the shell of one tired hall pendant and a few grainy photographs were all that remained for us to go on.

We think the replicas we chose do the original design justice and make the house really sparkle. Paired with the ceiling medallions, they make you want to look up in every room.

These screen doors are being restored to go back o

These screen doors are being restored to go back on the north porch. When we sanded them down, we were pleasantly surprised to find they are made of beechwood, which was a common lightweight material used by European makers in the mid 1800s. Based on the wood and construction, we think they were likely ordered at the same time as the original windows.

These doors, with their flexible wood splines to hold the screen in place, will look beautiful and let in a breeze on nice days.
