The Hindi/Urdu word for “come over,” Ajja invokes a destination that is celebratory and inviting. Led by James Beard Foundation Award-nominated chef/owner Cheetie Kumar, returning Garland team members Gaëlle Laforest, general manager and Lindsay Ogden, beverage manager, round out the service team. Chef de Cuisine Scott McKenney, and chefs Sarah Kenney and Chris Gamble join Chef Kumar in the kitchen to develop the menu.
Ajja’s menu draws inspiration from the diverse foodways and cultures, vibrant spices, and cooking techniques of the Mediterranean, the Middle East and beyond. Building on Garland’s legacy, Ajja continues telling the rich story of North Carolina’s growers, farmers and purveyors in a vibrant indoor-outdoor neighborhood restaurant.
