The first Thurs. of each month is perfect for a trip to the Wendell Market (May through Nov.)—where you can select fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers plus other local goods—plus a stop in at Bearded Bee Brewing Company (where you can and absolutely should collect a stamp for your Raleigh Beer Trail Passport).

For the outdoor enthusiast, trek out to Roberston Millpond Preserve where kayakers can navigate through a peaceful hidden gem, or enjoy an afternoon at Wendell Park, where you can get in a round of disc golf, allow the kids to explore the playground, let four-legged friends frolic in the dog park or hit the tennis court before enjoying a picnic for the whole family. If you prefer the golf course, hit the links at Wendell Country Club, an 18-hole course that's open to the public and includes a fully-stocked pro shop, plus Divots Grill, open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.
