Events in Garner, N.C.

Garner, N.C., has a variety of special events to take part in throughout the year. If you’re looking to visit this beautiful town around the holidays, you don’t want to miss some of the fun annual events.

Spring and summer events

Garner’s White Deer Park hosts a Groundhog Day event in Feb., with a weather-predicting groundhog named Mortimer.

In the spring, the Easter egg hunting festival Eggstravaganza occurs at Lake Benson Park, featuring an Easter Bunny and loads of fun for the whole family.

Lake Benson also hosts the Independence Day celebration in July, complete with live music by the North Carolina Symphony, a Kids Adventure Zone with inflatables, games and crafts, concessions from local organizations, Garner Veterans Memorial tours, a presentation by the town mayor and a fantastic fireworks show.

Fall fun

In Sept. at the Garner Performing Arts Center, a Carnaval Latino festival takes place, a free and fun event celebrating Garner’s diversity and Latino cultures, with music, food, craft booths, face-painting and tents from local artists and businesses.

In late Oct., a Halloween event, Trick-or-Treat the Trails, opens up for kids and families to dress up in costumes and fill their bags with delicious candy.

Holiday happenings

Christmas time brings two special events in early Dec. that transform Garner into a holiday wonderland, Light Up Main and the Christmas Parade.

Light Up Main features the annual tree-lighting ceremony and food, including hot chocolate and cookies, crafts and entertainment in a talent showcase from local residents and businesses; Mr. and Mrs. Claus also make appearances at this event!

At the Christmas Parade, marching bands, floats, Santa Claus and others make their way through downtown Garner, bringing together thousands of citizens, businesses, entertainers and visitors.
