Located in historic Oberlin Village, Latta University Historic Park comprises the remaining land of Latta University and is the site of the former Latta family home. Latta University operated from approximately 1892 to 1920. The Reverend M.L. Latta House was built c. 1910 and was destroyed by fire in 2007.
Today, Latta University Historic Park illuminates the history of the Morgan London Latta family and Latta University, providing a unique lens through which to explore race, community, and education in Raleigh within the broader context of the African American experience in the South at the turn of the twentieth century.
