The 174-acre wildlife park features hiking trails, Historic Yates Mill, Wake County’s last remaining gristmill, and the mill’s 24-acre pond, which is fed by Steep Hill Creek. The 18th century water-powered mill is fully restored and operable. Free admission to the park and no fee to tour the mill. Park hours: Daily, 8am-sunset; Finley Center: Daily, 8:30am-5pm; mill tour hours are limited and vary seasonally.

Our park center, with its 2 classrooms, is set up as an education and research center, and it is surrounded by the recreational park which is also a wildlife refuge. The use of our classrooms must fit our park mission which is focused on environmental, historic and agricultural education.
