About

Organized and hosted by the residents of the Pullen Park Terrace neighborhood adjacent Dorothea Dix Park, Raleigh's Kirby Derby is a popular annual event in that consists of an offbeat parade, kids competition with pinebox cars and a soapbox derby to cap the day. Each year's theme is different and has been hosted by the neighborhood since 2002.

Kirby Derby is a time to be creative – time to challenge your neighbor, or partner with your neighbors to challenge another neighborhood! Make crazy fun parade entries. Build a super fast (or not) racer for the soapbox derby. Decorate a mini pinebox racer and put it on the track to see who wins! DRESS UP! Who can resist?
