Champions of the eight regionals will converge on Cary to crown a national champion. Mount Olive won the 2008 National Championship in Sauget, Ill., the year before the National Finals moved to Cary. The Trojans reached the National Finals again in 2011 and finished in a tie for third.

Since USA Baseball National Training Complex has hosted the National Finals, a first-time national champion had been crowned each year until Tampa (Fla.) ended the streak in 2013. Last year, Southern Indiana became the first school to win two national championships at Cary, defeating Colorado Mesa in 12 innings in the first extra-inning championship game since the National Finals moved to Cary.
2009: Lynn (Fla.)
2010: Southern Indiana
2011: West Florida
2012: West Chester (Pa.)
2013: Tampa (Fla.)

2014: Southern Indiana

This year's tournament will follow a true double-elimination format. If both finalists are unbeaten after bracket play, they will face each other in a two-out-of-three series on the final two days. If only one finalist is unbeaten, the one-loss finalist will have to beat the unbeaten team twice to claim the championship. Game times each day are 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
