Raleigh, N.C. (September 28, 2012) - The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (GRCVB), the official destination marketing organization for Raleigh and Wake County, was awarded three top tourism awards at the Destination Marketing Association of North Carolina's (DMANC) Tourism Leadership Conference. The event was held in Raleigh at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley, September 26-28. Since 2000, the GRCVB has received more than 40 awards from DMANC.
The GRCVB was recognized with two Gold Awards: Destination Publications - Visitors Guide for the Official Visitors Guide to Raleigh, Cary and Wake County. This is the GRCVB's primary fulfillment piece for visitor inquiries and its primary marketing piece at the point-of-sale in visitor and welcome centers throughout the state. The guide is also available online at www.raleighvisitorsguide.com. The second Gold Award was in the Destination Print Ad - Group category for an ad placed in Meeting Professionals International's (MPI's) One+ magazine in April, May and June 2012. The ad highlighted the GRCVB sales team as the perfect superhero sidekick when planning a meeting or event in the Greater Raleigh area.
The GRCVB also received one Platinum Award in the Destination Publications - Niche Marketing category for "A Transit Guide to Shopping Near Downtown." This GRCVB brochure produced in cooperation with Capital Area Transit (CAT), encourages downtown Raleigh visitors interested in shopping to consider using Raleigh public transit to access the shopping opportunities that would otherwise require a car to access.
