Guidelines outline upmost standards for safety of staff,
guests, event organizers, performers and exhibitors

Raleigh, N.C. (August 21, 2020) – In light of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Raleigh Convention & Performing Arts Complex has released its meticulous re-opening health and safety plan. The plan, which can be found here, outlines the extensive measures being taken to protect all guests, clients and staff who enter the Complex’s three downtown venues.

The Complex’s Leadership Team, which oversees the Raleigh Convention Center, the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts and Red Hat Amphitheater, continues to monitor local, State, Federal and CDC guidelines and, when necessary, may make adjustments to the outlined procedures and processes to protect the community at large.

The Re-Opening Protocols and Procedures outline a series of thorough standards that have been implemented and will continue to be enforced. Categories include:

  • Communication Practices
  • Cleaning and Encouragement of Social Distancing
  • Staff Expectations and Health Guidelines
  • Catering and Food Service Protocol
  • Event Operations
  • Box Office and Ticketing Management
  • Working with Health Agencies and Partners
  • Security Measures

In addition to the developed guidelines, the Complex is continuing its effort in pursuit of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council GBAC STAR ™ accreditation, expanding facility cleaning methods and increasing its meticulous catering and food operations.

“Working to maintain a healthy and safe environment that meet and often exceed local, state and national mandates across all of our venues is our upmost priority,” said Kerry Painter, CFE/CEM/CMP, Director/General Manager of the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex. “This is a complete team effort and we are anxiously awaiting the day when it is safe to do what we do best- welcome guests from around the Triangle and across the globe to our Downtown Raleigh venues.”

Kerry Painter serves as Chair of NC Live, a coalition providing guidance and best practices across the state for safe reopening of venues and facilities. Leaders of arts and entertainment venues in Charlotte, Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh and Wake County have taken tangible actions to develop procedures to safely welcome back fans to concerts, performances and comedy events in the future. In total, the 18 venues in the coalition received over 3.3 million patrons during more than 2,500 performances in 2019.
