BALTIMORE, April 17, 2013 - Team registration for the US Lacrosse Southeast Championships, a youth lacrosse tournament for boys' and girls' U11, U13 and U15 teams June 7-9 at WRAL Soccer Center in Raleigh, N.C., will close April 25. The US Lacrosse Southeast Championships, powered by Lacrosse Unlimited, is the only summertime youth lacrosse tournament in the area administered by the sport's national governing body.
Coaches can register their teams at uslacrosse.org/2013southeastchampionships.
The US Lacrosse Southeast Championships feature a four-game minimum guarantee, US Lacrosse-trained officials, US Lacrosse's age-appropriate rules of play, certified athletic trainers on site, gold medals and "Keeper of Lacrosse" sportsmanship awards, and affordable team registration fees ($1,000 for a U11 team, $1,250 for a U13 team, and $1,350 for a U15 team) for rosters of up to 24 players and four coaches.
Nearly 30 teams from six states already have registered. Raleigh is hosting the US Lacrosse Southeast Championships for the third consecutive year. Prior to the start of play, one boys' team and one girls' team will be selected at random to receive a $250 registration credit, courtesy of the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance.
In the U15 division, the top four teams at the US Lacrosse Southeast Championships will receive automatic bids with free or reduced registration to the fifth annual US Lacrosse U15 National Championship, powered by Lacrosse Unlimited, July 23-25 (girls) and 26-28 (boys) at ESPN Wide World of Sports in suburban Orlando. Placing in the top four in the Southeast Championships represents the only guaranteed path to the U15 national championship.
"We've had great events in Raleigh the last two years, and we're looking forward to another great weekend of youth lacrosse at the WRAL Soccer Center," said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. "Our tournaments provide athletes the opportunity to compete with class, honor the game, and develop relationships with teammates and opponents alike."
