RALEIGH, NC — November 15, 2017 — Rock ‘n' Roll Raleigh Half Marathon unveiled new course changes for the 2018 event. The updated route will feature less hills and showcase new parts of the city to explore. Race weekend returns the weekend of April 7 — 8.
"Raleigh is a very hilly city and each year the biggest feedback we receive is too many hills on course," said Ted Metellus, Course Director. "We take these comments seriously and went back to the drawing board to design a course with less of an incline while still highlighting all of the beauty this city has to offer. With our 5th anniversary approaching this is the perfect opportunity to lace up those running shoes and join us in the capital city."
The half marathon will continue to start on Fayetteville Street and will run towards the historic Capitol building before cruising through the downtown historic district and charming neighborhoods. Participants will end their journey on Lenoir St. outside Red Hat Amphitheater.
Rock ‘n' Roll Raleigh is the most convenient destination event of the Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon Series, with the Health & Fitness Expo, start line and finish line concert all taking place just steps away from downtown hotels. From the moment they pick up their race number participants are greeted by the sounds of live entertainment, along with spectators and cheerleading teams lining the route to motivate them to the finish line. Upon finishing, runners are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the post-race Toyota Rock ‘n' Roll Concert Series at Red Hat Amphitheater.
Event weekend will once again feature two days of running with the Rock ‘n' Roll 5K presented by Brooks on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. Participants can take the "Remix Challenge" by running both Saturday and Sunday and will earn the special Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race's finisher medals.
Race weekend kicks off with a Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, April 6 from 3:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 7 from 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center. The expo will showcase vendors featuring the latest in running gear, nutrition and training. Further information about Rock ‘n' Roll Raleigh can be found online at RunRocknRoll.com/Raleigh.
