RALEIGH, NC (Nov 1) - Saint Augustine's University (SAU) and Shaw University today announced that the highly-anticipated, annual football game between the SAU Falcons and the Shaw University Bears has a new name: the Raleigh Classic.

This Saturday, Nov. 5, for the first time in the history of the longstanding crosstown rivalry, the winner of this Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) game will have more than "bragging rights". The Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance will present the victors with a trophy, which will be given to the winning team each year.

"This is tremendous for both Saint Augustine's and Shaw," said SAU Athletic Director George Williams. "The Raleigh Classic will bring even more excitement to the rivalry for fans and alumni and will be a highlight in the city of Raleigh for years to come." Williams also thanked the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance for sponsoring the trophy.

The contest, which starts at 1 p.m. at the George Williams Athletic Complex, will be the season finale for both teams. Like all rivalries, records will mean nothing when both teams line up against each other Saturday.

"We are very, very excited to be playing in the inaugural Raleigh Classic between two great historic institutions," said Shaw Director of Athletics Dr. Al Carter. "I know both teams will compete to their highest potential and will give fans what promises to be a great game!"
