Raleigh, N.C. (June 12, 2025) – The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Raleigh Major is set to take place at the Lenovo Center from June 26-29, bringing the world’s best Rocket League teams to Raleigh to compete for a lion’s share of a $351,000 prize pool. Greater Raleigh is home to the global headquarters for Epic Games, the owner and publisher of the Rocket League game title, making the area a fitting destination for this major esports event.
BLAST has partnered with Visit Raleigh ahead of this month’s RLCS Raleigh Major. The global event marks the first time Rocket League esports lands in North Carolina’s capital and the second major esports event BLAST has delivered in Greater Raleigh, further solidifying the city’s growing status as a premier global esports destination.
As part of the partnership, Visit Raleigh will be integrated across the event’s broadcast and on-site branding, including in-broadcast advertisements, printed backdrops and sponsored event zones. The collaboration will showcase Greater Raleigh’s vibrant culture, world-class hospitality and reputation as a hub for innovation.
Fans can expect a thrilling weekend of competition as the world’s best Rocket League players face off in front of a live audience, battling for glory, a slice of the $351,000 prize pool and a place in the Rocket League World Championship later in the season. James Woollard, director of market development at BLAST, commented, "The RLCS Raleigh Major is a landmark event for Rocket League and for the destination. Partnering with Visit Raleigh allows us to truly showcase the region's appeal to a global audience. These events aren't just about entertainment; they bring real economic impact through tourism and local business, and we're proud to help fuel that momentum in Greater Raleigh."
"Greater Raleigh's vibrant tech, culinary and cultural scenes, combined with our world-class hospitality and established reputation for innovation, make us a natural fit for premier events," said Loren Gold, executive vice president at Visit Raleigh. "This expanding partnership with the RLCS Raleigh Major and BLAST isn't just about hosting; it's about powerfully spotlighting our area's unique strengths and solidifying our global leadership as a premier destination for major esports and gaming events. We're thrilled to continue building our formidable portfolio and extend a warm welcome to the global gaming community."
Hosting major esports events in cities like Raleigh not only provides valuable exposure on a global stage but also delivers a significant boost to the local economy. With 60 percent of fans expected to travel from outside the city, the RLCS Raleigh Major is projected to generate a direct economic impact of more than $6 million. This figure reflects a combination of tourism and fan spending, sponsorship value and event production investment. The impact won’t just be felt in Greater Raleigh but across North Carolina, supporting local businesses and reinforcing the state’s growing role in the global esports landscape.
This partnership also reflects Greater Raleigh’s broader vision for esports. Beyond hosting major international events, the city has made significant efforts to support local and regional esports development, partly thanks to the region’s numerous video game companies, including its hometown corporate resident Epic Games. The Lenovo Center also begins planned renovations this summer aimed at modernizing its amenities, including the construction of a multi-phase mixed-use district surrounding the complex, which will enhance the capabilities and offerings of future events at the arena.
From grassroots tournaments and collegiate competitions to investing in gaming spaces and community infrastructure, Greater Raleigh is fostering a thriving ecosystem that champions opportunity, access and long-term growth in esports. This commitment ensures that while the spotlight shines on global competitions like RLCS, the next generation of talent and fans is being nurtured at every level right here in North Carolina.
Stay tuned for more details and local tips as we get closer to kickoff and don’t miss your chance to witness the world’s best RLCS teams battle it out live for the Major title.
