Raleigh Convention Center on Track for Reopening After Dec. 1 Roof Fire
Friday, December 12, 2025, 9am
The Raleigh Convention Center (RCC) in Raleigh, N.C., sustained a roof fire on the evening of Dec. 1, 2025. Meeting spaces remain largely unaffected, and the venue is making steady progress toward reopening. There were no events going on in the building at the time of the fire, and all staff members exited safely. Thanks to the swift response of the Raleigh Fire Department, the fire was contained to the roof.
RCC staff has been collaborating with all City of Raleigh departments to assess damage and determine exactly when they can resume hosting scheduled events.
Crews have already made significant progress as a result of the close collaboration between City departments, RCC staff and contractors who are working hard to help the venue welcome guests back soon. This includes removing water and drying out the inside of the building, applying a temporary seal to the roof and turning gas back on to resume operation of the boiler. Workers have also started work to put new drywall in administrative areas where needed.
RCC staff have also worked closely with event organizers to reschedule or relocate Dec. events, and deposits are being refunded for groups unable to host their event at the venue. Damage will continue to be assessed, and the RCC plans to resume hosting scheduled events as soon as absolutely possible.
