Summer travel is in full swing at RDU International Airport (RDU), with expanded air service, new dining options and major infrastructure improvements underway. Here's what visitors should know this season:

BermudAir to launch Caribbean destinations

Getting to Raleigh, N.C., is becoming even easier for international travelers. RDU will add two new international destinations to its route map in December when BermudAir launches nonstop service from Belize City, Belize (BZE), and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos (PLS). The new seasonal routes will operate from Dec. 20, 2026, through May 2, 2027, with twice-weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays aboard an Embraer 190 aircraft.

With the launch of the new BermudAir routes, RDU will offer 89 nonstop domestic and international destinations on 18 airlines, further strengthening the airport's position as a convenient gateway to the Raleigh area.

Breeze Airways adds nonstop service from Dayton, Ohio

Travelers will soon have a new way to connect from the Midwest to Raleigh, N.C. Breeze Airways has announced new nonstop service between Dayton International Airport (DAY) and RDU, marking the first nonstop route ever offered between the two airports. Service begins Nov. 6 and will operate twice weekly.

The addition further expands Breeze's growing presence at RDU and provides convenient access from southwestern Ohio for both business and leisure travelers. Dayton becomes the third Ohio destination served by Breeze to RDU, strengthening air service links between the Raleigh area and key Midwestern markets.

New dining options in Terminal 2

RDU continues to elevate the passenger experience with several new food and beverage concepts now open in Terminal 2. The latest additions include:

  • Adios! by Oscar Diaz: Mexican flavors with a Southern twist from the Top Chef contestant (Gate C17).
  • Bobby’s Burgers: Celebrity chef Bobby Flay’s signature grill-crafted burgers and milkshakes (Gate C18).
  • Bond Brothers Kitchen & Bar: The Cary-based brewery’s award-winning local brews and Southern favorites (Gate D3).
  • Conniption Cocktails & Cuisine: Handcrafted cocktails and locally inspired small plates from a regional distillery (Gate D8).
  • Half Moon Empanadas: Fresh, artisanal sweet and savory empanadas (Gate C3).

New runway construction unlocks Terminal 2 growth

RDU has reached another major milestone in the expansion of Terminal 2. Construction crews will soon begin removing the terminal's north window wall—a critical step in expanding the building and advancing the airport's long-term growth plans.

Once completed, the larger Terminal 2 will provide additional space for ticketing, security screening, baggage claim and international arrivals, helping RDU accommodate increasing passenger demand and expanded air service. The work is part of the airport's ongoing Transform RDU capital improvement program, which is focused on enhancing the travel experience while preparing the airport for future growth.

With new international connections, expanded domestic service, fresh dining experiences and continued terminal enhancements, RDU is making it easier than ever for planners and attendees to access the Raleigh area.
