ACCESSE, the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives' (CESSE's) leadership conference designed exclusively for STEM society professionals, brought more than 300 association executives and decision-makers to Raleigh, N.C., July 13-15, 2026. The event provided an opportunity to showcase how the destination has evolved since last hosting in the late 1990s and why Raleigh is well positioned to attract STEM-focused associations and events.

After a competitive bidding process, Raleigh secured the opportunity to host the event. From the start, organizers focused on providing an authentic Raleigh experience while highlighting the elements that matter most to meeting planners.

One of the event's standout moments came during the opening reception in downtown Raleigh's Warehouse District. Designed as a progressive street party, the evening featured local businesses including The Pit, Boxcar Bar + Arcade and Videri Chocolate Factory. Live music, interactive experiences and custom T-shirt screen printing from House of Swank Clothing Company helped create a memorable welcome while showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that makes our destination unique.

The local focus continued throughout the conference. Educational sessions at the Raleigh Convention Center were complemented by experiential elements designed to connect attendees with the community. One crowd favorite was the Visit Raleigh retail shop stocked with products from independent Raleigh area businesses. Guests were invited to choose (free) keepsakes from local vendors, giving them a lasting reminder of their visit while introducing them to the destination's makers and entrepreneurs.
