Recently, the highly anticipated Omni Raleigh Hotel officially broke ground in downtown Raleigh, marking a significant milestone in Raleigh, N.C.'s continued rise as a premier destination for conventions, business travel and leisure stays.

Set to open in late 2028, the 29‑story luxury hotel is being built on a prime site between the Raleigh Convention Center (RCC) and the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, reinforcing the strength of Raleigh’s convention center campus. The project builds on momentum that began when the City of Raleigh approved negotiations with Omni Hotels & Resorts to develop a major convention center hotel in the heart of downtown.

The Omni Raleigh Hotel is designed to support Raleigh’s expanding demand for high‑end accommodations and large‑scale events. Plans call for 600 guest rooms, 61,000 square feet of meeting space and a 20,000‑square‑foot ballroom, significantly enhancing capacity for conventions and group business. Guests will also enjoy a rooftop pool, multiple dining outlets (including the first Bob’s Steak & Chop House in the state), a rooftop poolside restaurant and a sports bar with a golf simulator, as well as a resort‑style wellness facility. These offerings align with Omni’s established focus on elevated hospitality experiences across its portfolio of more than 50 luxury properties.

Raleigh, N.C., is at a pivotal moment as the destination also moves forward with the planned expansion of the Raleigh Convention Center and Red Hat Amphitheater's relocation—two major developments expected to bring increased visitor traffic and economic activity. The need for a full‑service convention center hotel has been long recognized; Wake County’s Destination Strategic Plan called for a property with at least 500 rooms to support the area’s growing visitor economy and its ability to host larger, more frequent conventions.

As construction continues, the Omni Raleigh Hotel represents a signature investment in the future of downtown Raleigh and the destination as a whole. With its blend of upscale accommodations, expansive meeting facilities and first‑of‑their‑kind dining and wellness experiences, the property is positioned to elevate Raleigh, N.C.’s competitiveness on the national convention stage and contribute meaningfully to the destination’s evolving skyline and visitor experience.
