The most wonderful time of the year is here! And a new ice skating rink at downtown Raleigh's Red Hat Amphitheater—open now through Jan. 1—is ready to provide a big boost of holiday spirit. This holiday season, residents and visitors can enjoy the thrill of ice skating in a winter wonderland created in the heart of downtown Raleigh, N.C., at Red Hat Amphitheater. THE RINK presented by UNC Health features a natural ice rink with stunning views of the Raleigh skyline.

“We’re thrilled to bring some festive holiday spirit to downtown Raleigh this year,” said Kerry Painter, director/GM of the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex. “This is the perfect opportunity to start a new holiday tradition as Red Hat Amphitheater is transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland.”

“UNC Health is proud to support this wonderful winter attraction,” said Kerry Grace Heckle, UNC Health’s executive director of corporate and community relations. “We hope that it will attract more families to downtown Raleigh for some cheerful outdoor exercise and fun.”

Skater admission is $11 which includes skate rental, and non-skaters’ admission is $6, plus any applicable taxes and fees. Tickets are on sale and are available for purchase at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts box office Mon. through Fri., 10am-2pm, online at or by phone at 1.800.982.2787. Tickets are also available for purchase at the Red Hat Amphitheater box office 30 minutes before gates open each day.

THE RINK presented by UNC Health will operate from Nov. 20, 2021-Jan. 1, 2022, during the below hours of operation:

Sun.: noon-7pm

THE RINK presented by UNC Health is also proud to have ABC11 WTVD as the official media sponsor. “ABC11 is excited to support what we know will become a new holiday tradition. What a great way to ring in the holidays with family and friends in downtown Raleigh,” said Rob Elmore, president and general manager of ABC11. Several activations will also take place throughout the months of Nov. and Dec., including a vendor village with Shop Local Raleigh on Nov. 27, a Downtown Raleigh Alliance First Friday collaboration on Dec. 3 and more to be announced!
