Beer Events in Raleigh, N.C.
Just about anything can (and will) be turned into a beer event in Raleigh, N.C. Yoga mats get rolled out onto taproom floors, run clubs map out their workouts to start and end at local breweries, side streets are shut down for jam sessions paired with beer tastings and local brewers team up with food trucks and retailers to throw weekly block parties. Any day on any given week, you’ll find special beer releases, beer dinners, tap takeovers, behind-the-scenes tours and all sorts of other events taking place at the Raleigh area’s 25-plus breweries, not to mention bars and restaurants.
Beer drinkers in the Raleigh area asked for bigger events and major festivals as well, and local entrepreneurs and festival organizers have answered that call. The state’s largest craft beer festival, Brewgaloo (pictured above), takes place each April, coinciding with N.C. Beer Month. Homegrown from the ground up, Brewgaloo’s two-day event draws more than 30,000 people to the city center to sample beers from 100 local breweries.
More major events? World Beer Festival Raleigh (early April or late March) is all about big—big venue, big crowds and big tastes. Held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, attendees get a chance to sample more than 250 beers from around the world. At Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Beer, Bourbon and BBQ (July) is two days of beer sipping, bourbon tasting, music listening and barbecue eating—what’s not to love? And in Holly Springs, Beericana (Sept.) is another beloved, locally-grown event that pairs great local brews with Americana jams for a full day of fun.
