Destination Services

Virtual Visitor Information Center (VIC) operations

Operated the Greater Raleigh CVB's virtual VIC throughout 2020 and the first half of 2021; reopened our live VIC in early July 2021.

CARES Act funds for COVID-related improvements

Prepared the physical VIC to reopen by adding health safety shields, enhanced cleaning tools and more visible displays to show COVID-19 updates and to promote partners who are “Count On Me NC” certified.

Updated group welcome tools

Refitted our mobile VIC kiosk (typically stationed at the Raleigh Convention Center during larger events) and added an additional kiosk for on-site event usage, both with health safety shields and with enhanced cleaning tools in place.

Reorganized the Destination Services Department

Revised our structure, which now includes the servicing of sports events in addition to meetings and other events. Promoted Gray Henderson, CGSP®, to sports and event services manager from his previous position as destination services manager.

Diversity, equity and inclusion

Worked with the Marketing and Communications Department to enhance the Event Services & Suppliers tool to allow for minority-owned businesses to be noted as such.

Improvements

To prepare for the return of events and as businesses reopened, worked with the Marketing and Communications Department to update many of our services tools and initiated virtual attendance promotion concepts using the recently completed Digital Marketing Tool Kit for event planners.

Successes

Despite COVID-19 impacts, serviced 106 events, filled more than 2,700 visitor information requests and resumed our visitor information delivery service.
